HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program) can help eligible New Yorkers heat and cool their homes. If eligible, participants may be able to receive one benefit per program year and could also be eligible for emergency HEAP benefits if they are in danger of running out of fuel or having their utility service shut off.
NYSERDA’s EmPower New York program offers no-cost energy efficiency services to low-income (such as HEAP-eligible) homeowners and renters. These services include electric reduction and home performance upgrades. On-site energy education offers customers additional strategies for managing their energy costs.
